If stunning views of Snoqualmie Falls, elevated PNW cuisine, luxe + cozy rooms, and fantastic spa services are up your alley, Salish Lodge is a must-visit destination.

For a smaller-scale getaway, Snoqualmie is home to cozy cabins galore. This Alpine Classic A-Frame would be a romantic Valentine’s day destination, and this Sunset Chalet at Lake Alice offers serene views and plenty of space to relax.
For the ultimate glamping experience, a weekend in one of Treehouse Point’s gorgeous collection of private treehouses is just what you’re looking for. As a unique bed and breakfast, your treehouse stay includes fully stocked bath houses and a delicious home cooked breakfast each morning.
Snoqualmie, often called the gateway to the Cascades, is a gorgeous pick for a Washington state romantic getaway. It offers plenty of outdoor adventures with opportunities to embrace the natural beauty of the area.

After you’ve enjoyed the fresh PNW air, it may be time for some relaxation. Even if you’re not staying at the Salish Lodge, you can still book services at their award-winning spa.
We highly recommend making reservations at Il Paesano Ristorante. The warm, Italian eatery, located in North Bend, is perfect for a romantic dinner.
Take time to learn about the Snoqualmie Tribe and People through the Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands Movement. While visiting the area, refer to this map of the Snoqualmie Valley that presents the Ancestral sdukʷalbixʷ lands and their significance. Don’t miss the Snoqualmie Falls sdukw albixw Gift Shop and Visitor Center to learn about the Snoqualmie Tribe’s stewardship of Snoqualmie Falls. You’ll find art from Tribal artists, in addition to incredible care with coffee, locally-made pastries, and ice cream!)
And, be sure to take this pledge to Protect, Respect, and Restore Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands
If your idea of a perfect Washington state weekend getaway involves lots of zen vibes, you’ll find just what you’re looking for in these Leavenworth escapes.
For a tranquil, adults-only experience, we recommend the Posthotel. With gorgeous architecture, and incredible views, it’s situated right along the river in downtown Leavenworth.
Relaxing will come naturally in their luxurious pool and wellness area featuring saltwater pools, steam baths, saunas, and more. The stunning guest rooms won’t hurt, either.
Consider a weekend at Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort for yoga classes, an organic garden, and sustainability initiatives. A rustic sanctuary, it’s located in the outskirts of Leavenworth on 67 sprawling acres of natural beauty. It offers access to miles of hiking trails and hidden art installations, and a lovely day spa. (Bonus: the resort is dog-friendly!)
Leavenworth is a picturesque backdrop for a Washington state romantic getaway, and exploring the towncenter of the charming Bavarian village is a must! Depending on the timing of your visit, you might be able to enjoy one of Leavenworth’s many lively traditional festivals! (If you visit in the spring, you can attend the Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest, which is on our bucket list for obvious reasons!)
One of our favorite local wineries is Silvara Cellars, located on the outskirts of town. The beautiful hilltop winery is open year-round for guided tastings. And, if you’re visiting in the winter, you can reserve a private igloo or cozy up by the fireplace!
Of course you’ll find unlimited opportunities for outdoor fun – from Nordic skiing and snowshoeing, to gentle hikes soaking up the beauty of summer wildflowers and amazing fall foliage.
To further connect with the natural world and local environment, visit the Wenatchee River Institute, a 9-acre nature reserve with seven gardens, plentiful walking trails, and opportunities for birding.
Leavenworth is on the ancestral land of the P’Squosa people (later given the name Wenatchi.) Learn about the history of the P’Squosa and Wenatchi tribe before you visit. We found these articles in Cascade PBS and Explore Washington State to be a helpful starting point!
Home to a stunning diversity of terrain, Washington’s Olympic Peninsula encompasses incredible beaches, old-growth temperate rainforests, glacial lakes, and the Olympic mountains. It’s almost an embarrassment of riches!
A Washington state romantic getaway on the Olympic Peninsula offers beauty at every turn, including in lodging options.
For uninterrupted views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, famously comfortable beds, and to enjoy the Sustainable World Luxury Hotel winner, book a weekend at Domaine Madeleine. The romantic waterfront boutique hotel is located within Olympic National Park, and offers curated day trips for guests.
For a more private retreat, opt for one of the cozy Dungeness Bay Cottages or the Sol Duc Serentiy Airbnb that offer all the amenities of home. Or, for an extra unique Washington state weekend getaway, book a Happy Glampers Dome where you’ll be surrounded on all sides by natural beauty.
If you’re looking for something even more “waterfront,” try the Quileute Oceanside Resort on the lands of the Quileute Tribe where you’ll experience amazing views of First Beach.
There’s no better way to appreciate the area together than by lacing up your hiking boots and hitting the trail! You’ll love a trek near the turquoise waters of Lake Crescent, around the almost-magical Sol Duc Falls, or exploring the Hoh Rain Forest.
In addition to mountains and forests, the Olympic Peninsula is home to some incredible beaches on the Pacific Coast. Rialto Beach, Ruby Beach, and Second Beach are so worth the visit and top our list of favorites! (Many beaches on the Pacific Coast are on lands of sovereign tribal nations, so be sure to research any permit requirements in advance.)
If you’re planning your Washington state romantic getaway during the summer months, be sure to plan in a little extra time to visit one of Sequim’s lavender farms and to stop by Hurricane Ridge for breathtaking views and exhilarating hikes.
Honor the native history of the Olympic Peninsula and learn about the nine present-day tribes in the region: the Lower Elwha Klallam, Jamestown S’Klallam, Port Gamble S’Klallam, Skokomish, Squaxin Island, Quinault, Hoh, Quileute, and Makah.
Seattle is truly iconic, and you can’t choose a romantic PNW weekend destination without considering a stay in the city.
Two of our favorite lodging recommendations are the Lotte Hotel for elevated, modern rooms with phenomenal views of the city, and The Edgewater, which is Seattle’s only over-water hotel.
Both options will have you in the heart of the city, near all of our favorite activities to consider for a Washington state weekend getaway.
Book a couple’s spa treatment at the romantic Little Red Day Spa for some relaxing TLC in the midst of the bustling city.
Seattleites can stand in solidarity with the Duwamish Tribe, the host tribe of Seattle, by paying Real Rent, which supports the Duwamish Tribal Services. You can also visit the Duwamish Longhouse & Cultural Center to learn and engage with tribal history, culture, and art, and stop by the gift shop to purchase Native art and gifts.
Spanning the Washington/Oregon stateline across the Columbia River, you’ll find the Columbia River Gorge. The enchanting area is home to Hood River on the Oregon side and Carson on the Washington side – two little treasures of cities. A region bursting with beauty and adventure, it’s a perfect Washington state weekend getaway!
For a unique blend of log cabin charm and Japanese country estate, spend your weekend at Sakura Ridge and Farm. The luxury bed and breakfast has a striking view of Mt. Hood and is also a working organic farm. It’s truly a breath of fresh air.
Or, book a romantic, cozy cabin at Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins where you can enjoy in-cabin spa treatments and walk through acres of private gardens. We appreciate their ever-growing Green Lodging Program and their commitment to sustainability.
We highly suggest checking out some of the many local wineries in the valley – on both sides of the river! This list of fantastic wineries in the Columbia River Gorge could last you weeks!
Besides wineries, there are exceptional breweries to visit for a pint of local beer or cider. On the Washington side, Everybody’s Brewing is a great stop for some top notch ale and a locally sourced lunch menu.
On the Oregon side, pFriem Family Brewers and Ferment Brewing Company are both located next to the Hood River Waterfront Park. While they have their own unique brewing styles and flavor profiles, both offer relaxed tasting rooms, and a variety of ciders, kombuchas, and zero proof mocktails.
Shopping in downtown Hood River, you’ll find a wide selection of independent and locally-owned stores with everything from boutique fashion to handmade kitchenwares to the gear you’ll need for your Columbia River adventures!
If adventure is calling, the options in Hood River Valley are limitless. No matter your interest – hiking, biking, windsurfing, kiteboarding, kayaking, rafting…it’s all available!
If you’re planning your Washington state romantic getaway in the summer, be sure to book a romantic sunset cruise along the Columbia River.
When you’re thinking about dinner, we love Hiyu Wine Farm for an incredible wine-tasting and multi-course dining experience featuring seasonal ingredients. For another ultra-fresh and ultra-local option, check out the farm-to-table experience at Celilo Restaurant and Bar.
The Columbia River Gorge region exists within the traditional lands of multiple Native tribes who relied on Nch’i-Wána, or “the great river,” including the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Confederated Bands and Tribes of the Yakama Nation, and Nez Perce Tribe. Learn about the importance of salmon as a First Food and the historical significance of Celilo Falls, which disappeared when The Dalles Dam floodgates closed.
